The Golden Flashes date back to 1926. when Kent State held a contest for a new mascot. From a golden retriever named Flasher to a cartoon character named Grog to a golden palomino. the Golden Flash has been many things over KSU’s history; in 1985. the school settled on a golden eagle named Flash. who has been the official mascot ever since.
