Rufus has been a fixture on the field at Peden Stadium since his grand entrance (on a Harley Davidson. no less) in 2006. although Ohio University has been known as the Bobcats since 1925. Rufus’s name comes from both the scientific name for the bobcat species and a connection to one of OU’s founding fathers. Rufus Putnam. Pay homage.
